UIL High School
UIL High School Social Studies practice tests
Practice High School Social Studies on 44 released tests and 1,980 questions — Invitational A and B, District, Region and State, 2017-18 through 2025-26 — each on its own year's topic and reading list, from Russia and the former Soviet Union to the global Cold War.
The contest
- Part I: 20 general-knowledge questions from the year's terms list, 1 point each
- Part II: 15 questions on the year's primary reading, 2 points each
- Part III: 10 questions on the supplemental readings — court cases, laws, speeches, documents, a film — 3 points each
- 80 points for the 45 questions, no deduction for a wrong answer, and an essay scored by judges; 90 minutes in all
In Academic Ace
- Every test shows its topic, its three parts and its essay prompt; each question says which part it's from and what it's worth
- Scored by part, like the real contest; the essay prompt is there to practice with, since judges score the real one
- Review shows every missed question, with the page of the primary reading that UIL's key cites
- A 2026-27 practice exam on the new Gilded Age topic, written by us from UIL's reading list and clearly labeled as a mock exam, not a UIL test
- Where UIL's printed answer key is plainly wrong, the app grades the right answer and explains the correction
