UIL A+ Art practice tests

Practice A+ Art on 52 released tests and 1,560 questions from 2017-18 through 2025-26, for grades 4–6 and 7–8, plus 2026-27 mock exams that include picture identification from this year's official list.

The contest

  • Part A: identify 15 of the 30 pictures on the official list — artist and title, 2 points each, 1 if misspelled
  • Part B: 30 questions from the Art Smart Bulletin, on art elements and art history, 2 points each, no deduction
  • 120 points in all; the list and bulletin run on a two-year cycle (2025-27 covers 2025-26 and 2026-27)

In Academic Ace

  • Part B of every released test, as printed — multiple choice, true/false and, through 2021-22, fill-in-the-blank, which accepts near spellings as UIL's keys do
  • 2026-27 mock exams with Part A: 15 of this year's 30 works drawn at random each time, typed as artist and title and scored like the contest
  • Public-domain works are shown as photos; works still under copyright are described in words, with a button that opens the museum's own image
  • Exam mode with a 10–60 minute timer, Reinforce mode, and a review of every missed question

The mock exams are written by us from the official list and the Art Smart Bulletin, not taken from a UIL test, and the app labels them as mock exams on every question. Released tests contain Part B only, because UIL projects the Part A pictures at the contest.
